alpenglow 0 Posted June 21, 2008 Another from this series of infrared images using Macophot Aura IR820c film, and a Yashica TLR. Thanks as always for taking the time and the feedback. Mike Link to comment
PeterKrenek 26 Posted June 22, 2008 Sublime, Mike. Is it still possible to buy the film ? I was looking for an IR film here (Slovakia), without success. Link to comment
alpenglow 0 Posted June 22, 2008 Hi Peter, and thanks for the visit. Yes... there still is IR film available, however, not the Kodak HIE that was so widely used. IR film is currently made by Rollie, Ilford and Efke. But only the Efke films are "true" IR emulsions that give the kind of dramatic effect that the Kodak used to. The Rollie and Ilford films are less sensitive to IR. This photo was shot with the discontinued Macophot Aura film. It lacks an anti-halation layer which gives it a very distinctive "glow" like the Kodak used to. The Efke films that replaced Maco, are still good, but they don't produce the same glowing effect that the Maco Aura did. So if you find any of the Maco Aura, grab it. PS... the Efke IR film is made in Croatia and is only available through "Freestyle Photo" here in the US. Mike Link to comment
