Well this is the very first photo that I have taken that has be

posted after altered by photoshop (with the help of miss

verna....thank you sweetie). It has been softened and cropped a

bit. But I would love to know what everyone thinks.

Hi Jenny,

LOVE this photo....could you show the guest what the original looks like....or... direct them to your site for that view....it would help with the critique

Fantastic work, slightly plastic feel to it but lovely all the same. Just a tip, IMHO the catch lights in the eyes are always better slightly off center, it makes them less 'demonic'.

Great model and well done, I like your work.

gee, i don't like it at all. the woman looks so vapid and empty. i don't understand what photoshop did to improve it. did the person whose portrait this is like it???is it for a young actress? is it for a lover? forgive me, but i am far away from this kind of portrait.

Why? I thought the original was quite unflattering. Her hair had a green tinge to it, and her skin wasn't shown in the most flattering light.

This just doesn't have the same feeling as the original. This one is just devoid of the personality that the first one has. Photoshop has sterilized it to the point of blankness.

We are obviously a divided Circle on some issues.

Not all who view this photo see it in the same light.

This photo is now rated #156 out of 300 in "Top Rated

Photo" for the week at Photo.net > just another example

of of the old expression "Art & Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder",

I would feel sure that this Model would much rather

have her skin look like the above rather than have to her

pimples & pores in close up view to the world.

For the none P.S. people, everything done

to this photo can be done by way of filters or in a wet

darkroom so let's not beat down P.S.. Is it a matter of

you don't like this models looks, or you don't like the

framing, or lighting or position of this model.

For you realist who must see pores and pimples......

more power to you, now let me sell you this nice

BETA recorder.

Verna, Verna, Verna.... One of the most important aspects to portrait photography (in my oh so very humble opinion) is to have a sense of the personality of the subject come through in the image. I feel that this particular image has been sanitized, like an operating room. No personality, no expression, no character. It just looks like any of the millions of high school yearbook photos that are airbrushed clean and held forth as a representation of who you are. It just doesn't do the subject justice.

This is not to tear down PhotoShop, (although I do think that photoshop does a great disservice to photographers) but rather to notice what I consider the wrong way to use it. If you feel like you need to eliminate a pimple, go ahead, I'm not going to get into a tizzy about it. You can even use a little make up to cover it. But in this case, it is just overused.

This is a beautiful girl, just not a beautiful representation of her.

Now, about that Beta recorder........

Hi Jenny,

I like the style, and the finishing in PS. But the overall impression of the photo is very dark, and especially a person with white hair gives other interesting possibilities of working with light. Also, as mentioned in the title, the impression is very blue - thats okay, not everyone has to love Kodak Extra Color, and the choice has its reasons with the blue eyes and the normally blue-ish white hair, but I would like a more natural skin color. greetings, Jan-Meinhart

Hello there, your model doesn't only have a nice figure, but she also has a beautiful and very strong face. It's a very nice shot, but it might be even better if her skin tone was a bit more evened out (especially the cheeks). Nice work!
