michaelbonner 0 Posted June 24, 2008 This is a rough poster concept for which I'd appreciate feedback. Thanks a lot! Link to comment
GerrySiegel 868 Posted June 24, 2008 When I looked at this I was judging the Navy environment that this telephone talker was enclosed by. I could see only incidentally the guard rails and covers for some equipment, and perhaps a peek at the USS John C Stennis combat vessel---the only kind to promote for Navy (?) but it,frankly, lacks much Navy identification per se. I would think a background figure in battle gear, or some equipment, weapon system, or even a battle helmet on subject, or a look at his jacket with a stenciled ship name would make this more relevant as a recruiting poster. Well, you asked for opinions and I am serving up same without novocaine , if it helps and not discourages.... also think more of the figure shoulders and all of the hand would help. Good start, mate!. Try some variations. And let the background be visible. Where is this seaman located? And what evolution might he be involved in? See what I am driving at? Regards and I wish you well. gs Link to comment
michaelbonner 0 Posted June 24, 2008 Thank you, George and Gerry. I appreciated both of your comments, and in particular the extensive critique from Gerry. I understand exactly where you are coming from, and that is one of the reasons I was asking for critique. I had some wider images that gave more context, but I liked the composition more in this photo, so I was curious as to whether the choice had sacrified too much in the way of th subject's surroundings. Thanks again for your feedback, Michael Bonner Link to comment
