Pnina, a very nice series. i actually like the second one best because the dancers are connecting with the balls rather than dancing around them. with the idea of connection, my favorite part of this one is the dancer's reflection as it is on the same layer as the reflections of the balls

The beauty of a body in motion, the blur make this feeling more strong, and the colored balls on the floor adds a strange sense of depth and perspective. Bold hand held shot dear Pnina, with a captivating result.

Pnina...You are so fortunate that you have all these great opportunities to shoot...Photographing the human form in dance... in light that is usually pretty dark can be tough....you to do a very good job in my opinion!

Although highly respect Ton's and David's eye for photography....I thought it looked fine the way it was...maybe a monitor difference..? I did apply a levels adjustment...then used the gradient tool feather the new adjustment...took less than a minute to do...A question...do you often or seldom get to use a tripod? I find at these kind of events it is difficult to get such good positions to shoot as you often seem to get? The lack of digital noise in your images often blows me away! Another well done image! juan

Emmanuel, glad you liked it so much.

Pep, I appreciate your impressions.

Michael, thanks as well

Linda, the 2nd and 3ed examples were uploaded to let the viewers have a wider impression of the dance, and this part especially. I'm glad you liked it.

Carlos, this is exactly how I saw it, I'm pleased you saw it in the same way.

Juan, thanks for taking the time, but it is NOT the way I wanted it to be. as I explained to Ton and David and you understood it as well, I wanted the dancer soft, a bit les accentuated , and in dimmer light, NOT the same strength as the balls! ( your result...) the balls are the FG and the dancer is more in the back. It is a mental feeling ,fits my impression of the dance .

To answer your questions, No I don't use a tripod( and not a flash) at all, as I move with the dance, the stage lights are usualy strong and I have to move to find the right angle I want.

I photo in RAW files.

Thanks for your answer on the tripod question...I am only one of many who are impressed with your art...I hope you don't mind me adjusting your image...I like that you know what you want from your images...because that's what it's like for me...that's what's important...You go girl...keep shooting them like you see them...juan

Playful and visually engaging. The yellow dress seems to convey a "sunny" disposition. Another well seen addition to your magnificient series.

Juan, Thanks for your coming again, and understanding, no, I don't mind your adjustment, I only wanted to explain to you, my reasons, why it was not the way I wanted it......;-)) Most of the time I know what I want to express in a photo /series.

Adan, thanks,I'm glad you liked it and the series.

PNF, you were right, I cleaned the spots on the left ( it takes time till the change is seen, a new change and drawback of PN....)

Pnina, a very interesting composition. Amazing how much interest a reflective floor adds. The black background is also perfect.

I really enjoy the quality of light in this one.You have rendered a very soft pastel look. The slightly soft focus on the dancer and even the softness on the coloured balls adds to the effect. I also like that ( at least on my monitor ) the background is dark but still quite a bit lighter than true black. The effect of heavy shadow as apposed to darkness fits well with the overall soft tonal approach you have used here. I am very impressed that you managed to frame the image without cutting any balls in half :-) As I have mentioned before, the effect of that stage floor must be a joy to work with.

Roger and Cherlyn, glad to see you here again and read your impressions.

Gord, thanks as well for your wide assesment and understanding the nuances of the scene. In this part , the floor was an important ellement in the scene. As I promised you , I will look at the stage floor next time when I photo there to see what is creating the glow while the performance takes place ;-))
