jkilgo 0 Posted June 26, 2008 This is actually not bad for, as you say, a beginner. There are many good things about this portrait...the pose is classic, the expression is warm and inviting and the costume adds interest and gives the portrait a sorta period feel. The flower crown is a nice touch and the soft diffused lighting help define the facial features of your lovely model. There are a few issues that detract a bit and as you learn you will instinctively avoid these issues...such as the background, always avoid distracting items in the frame like other people and things that don't fit the feel/mood of your portrait. Also, hands are tough...just when you get them positioned correctly they don't seem to fit right for the crop you think looks best...I generally try to either include all of the hands or crop them out altogether. I think here exposing more of the hands would look nice. Anyway, great start and I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future. Link to comment
shenandoah 0 Posted June 27, 2008 I really appriciate the feedback! I haven't taken even one class. I am learning I think sometimes I get lucky. I try my hardest to listen to what photographers tell me. I love taking pictures. Link to comment
