Please let me know what you think of this photo. It's of a band named

Vendetta Red, and was taken at the 2002 Warped Tour in Boston, MA.

This was the first time I had ever seen this band, and they had one of

the liveliest stage shows I've ever seen, incredibly energetic and

active. I think that this photo best captured that intensity and

motion. Thanks.

Hi Erick,

They're very The Who-ish. The image does portray an intensity to the band, they seem to have a good dynamic between them.

There are some issues, though. First, there's 30% of a guy on the right who was cut off, and sort of blends into the bass player. Also, the arm of somebody (a technician) protrudes from the singer's side. Other than that, this would be a good publicity photo for them.

Good use of a longer framing, it makes the eyes wander around the image and adds to the lively band effect.

I would add to Ricardo`s comment the VERY distracting blue publicity in the background - oh and why did you cut off the front monitors, to me they would add to rhe concert feel.

I also find that night is time for rock`n`roll - but you can`t modify a festival i guess - the light would add atmosphere which this photo lacks.

David- I agree about the publicity banner, in that it would have been nice if it had been just a plain black backdrop. However, that sort of thing is a reality of concert photojournalism. I can hardly ask the promoter to take down a banner because it's offending my artistic sensibilities. Anyways, from a purely journalistic viewpoint, I'd say that the banner adds to the photo by informing the viewer of the environment the photo was taken in. As for the monitors, I hardly think that it's necessary to leave in such distracting elements when the band is standing a good six to eight feet behind them, not to mention that it's rather apparant this is a concert (the guitars, drum kit, and microphone are good clues).

You've caught the individual members of the band in action, but somehow the photo lacks drama. Perhaps if you'd used shallower DOF to isolate the people from the background it might help to keep your eye on the people. As is it, I find my eye wandering around to static parts of the image.

This would be a good shot of any one of the three front guys, but with all three and the background it diffuses the impact too much, I'd say. Next time pick one of them & go tight!
