AJHingel 127 Posted July 18, 2012 Great shot with or without "much thoughts". In compositional terms, I would have preferred the ball to be centered and not the dog. Congratulations with the POW Link to comment
rikpennartz 0 Posted July 18, 2012 Great shot! Funny! I wonder how many attempt you made to get this image and how often the dog landed on you! Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted July 19, 2012 For me, there's a compelling grotesqueness about it. That's not a criticism, by any means. It actually gives it some depth for me. Yes, it's kind of a trick shot, not meaning a Photoshop trick, of course. If the dog were more "typical" looking, less bony, less extended, it wouldn't work near as well. The oddity of the way the dog looks goes with the extremity of the processing. I don't actually like the processing much, but "like" is not the point to me. It seems appropriate to the photo and it works on that level, I suppose. Here's a case of something that I think is well done and shows a lot of initiative and a good eye, and I wouldn't want to look it every day, would probably never hang it on my wall, which has never been a tell-tale sign of a good photo for me. stp 6 Posted July 21, 2012 I think Fred makes a good point. In this position, the dog takes on a posture of an upright human, something it was not designed to do. Its anatomical geometry does give is a feeling of "grotesqueness" in the sense that it simply wasn't designed to be upright. For me, that is part of the attraction of the photo (I don't often use "grotesqueness" and "charm" in the same description). More important to me is how Lukasz captured the stance and the angle so well at just the right moment -- I appreciate that aspect of the photo. Link to comment
jorge_fernandez3 1 Posted July 24, 2012 Lukasz you have presented an original work that is worth showing in galleries around the world. Dogs are men best friend and everything they do is worth showing. This has a comic side to it that made me smile all week as I open PN twice a day. Congratulations. Jorge. Link to comment
