Red Canyon, Colorado

This image was taken on the California Zephyr. Saturation bumped up

(only slightly) in PS. Comments welcome.

Now we're getting really into it!! I *love* the colours in this image from the water to the *green* grass to the sparsely vegetated mountains (hills) in the background.

are those colors are for real?

The combination of reds and earth tones from the canyon walls and the greens by the river are interesting.

The sky is really lacking in detail and that brings down the overall quality of the image. Everything below the sky is great.

Especially like the 4 colors in the photo

The sky looks somehow artificial to me.... did you capture this images like that?

The colors seem off. Did you adjust a lot in ps?

Colours are surreal, Chris. Should this have been just a slight PS adjustment, then I must reiterate my impression of the CMOS sensor - it seems to have the upper hand on CCD, at least in respect of shadow detail. The texture shift is perfect : soft liquid/ soft grass/ hard canyon - perfect gradations.

 

Were I to pick up my knitting needles, I might suggest a slight crop off the top to de-emphasise the upper flare : keeping about half the sky. That green reminds me of Velvia, good stuff.

Chris, your picture takes my breath away.

To make it a little more balanced looking....I think I would crop a small amount of the sky off.....just enough to balance the picture a bit. The sky is so beautiful that you could have done an entire picture of the clouds alone.

All in all...........I love this picture. Gives one something to fantasize about owning.
