I've never seen a peacock fly before. I didn't know they could. They must flap pretty rapidly to show so much motion at 1/250 sec. It's pretty cool how only the head is near sharpness. Where in the zoom range of 18-135mm were you?

Hi Brian, Oops, I forgot to change it from the previous photo I uploaded. The shutter speed was 1/8. It was a very cloudy day, and I was closer to the 18 mm side of things, I've cropped the photo quite a bit to get the diagonal lines, and the head pointing to the lower right corner. I'm not sure he flew so much as jumped/fell while flapping. I was really surprised to see that the head came out as clear as it did, but I guess that why you try to take the photo, for those happy accidents, or at least that's what I'm always hoping for. Thanks for stopping by, are you going to any cool conferences this summer? - Lex

Thanks for your recent visit and comment . You could have fooled me saying that you are new at this. I looked at your portfolio and I was impressed by your talented, promising and inspiring work. Congratulations on your internship and keep firing that passion within you. I can see that you are on the right track already.

This is a great shot in my opinion. I like how the head is focused compared to the rest and the blurry diagonal perspective makes it dynamic. The flapping motion of the wings is quite engaging and the colors work beautifully.

Thanks, it was a complete mistake, but one that I really really like and wish I could take credit for. I think some times people just are in a bad mood when they rate... or maybe they just don't think that it's a real shot. Thanks again, I was about to take this one down, but I think I might have to let it stay up for a bit longer - Lex

Don't take it down, Alexa. Whether by chance, luck or mistake, it's beautiful. The in-focus head is key to calling this a success.

Thanks for the confidence boost. I still can't believe that the head is in focus, but I'll just accept it and let it stay as a permeant addition to the portfolio. Thanks again for stopping by! - Lex
