...is a NY Landmark. It was formerly an amusement park ride and although it is kept structurally sound, it's not been run for decades. For more info, check out

It is in Coney Island, in Brooklyn, NY, right on the boardwalk. :-) Next to Keyspan Stadium, home of the Met's farm team, the Cyclones, for you baseball fans. I took the shot at sunset from inside the stadium.

 

When it was in working order, there were two-seat benches attached by two cables that ringed the ride. You would be drawn up to the top and dropped into freefall -- and a parachute would come out of the bench to slow the descent. I never got to ride on it before it was closed BUT it is currently being renovated, so who knows? :)
