katherine_dancer 0 Posted September 10, 2002 ...is a NY Landmark. It was formerly an amusement park ride and although it is kept structurally sound, it's not been run for decades. For more info, check out www.history.amusement-parks.com/users/ adamsandy/parachute.htm Link to comment
katherine_dancer 0 Posted July 5, 2003 It is in Coney Island, in Brooklyn, NY, right on the boardwalk. :-) Next to Keyspan Stadium, home of the Met's farm team, the Cyclones, for you baseball fans. I took the shot at sunset from inside the stadium. When it was in working order, there were two-seat benches attached by two cables that ringed the ride. You would be drawn up to the top and dropped into freefall -- and a parachute would come out of the bench to slow the descent. I never got to ride on it before it was closed BUT it is currently being renovated, so who knows? :) http://www.brooklyncyclones.net/jump.shtml Here's an article on it.... and it's already back up.
