The technic works well ( reminds Gordon's one) the movement is well felt.To my personal taste the white BG is distracting a bit on one hand, but enhancing the middle on the other.... I could not make up my mind....;-)) anyway good result of mastering the technic, I think it is a good idea to experiment more.

Yep, this reminds me of Gordon and Tero. A technique I haven't been able to accomplish, but you did it well. I like how the marsh fades into the clouds. This has a good "feel" to it, meaning that it seems to be a very tactile shot.

Thank you guys, Gordon is certainly my main influence in doing this - the abstractness appeals to me very strongly. I don't know if I mastered anything but I had fun with shooting some of the different types of marsh from the moving boat on our ride back from fishing. I have some others with different vegetation that I may post in the future. I wish I could get out on the boat more often - then maybe I could get some better results.

Pnina, that bright background kind of got me a little too but it has some blue blur to it and isn't really blown white so I kind of live with it. There was a little strip of water at the bottom but the shot wasn't balanced to my liking so, in Photoshop, I took the image from the waterline and did a mirror copy down. I still may rotate this 90 degrees in the CW and CCW direction to see what that looks like.

Kirk, thanks for your explanation, experimenting is the prefered method to find your way... just continue ;-))

Again the mirror flip gives an interesting abstract pattern. If you had not told us this was water and reeds shot from a boat, I would have guessed it to be a straight down upon shot of something green and furry. I noted that you used the same treatment on at least one of the other photos you sent me a link to.

Gordon, thanks for the visit both here and to the link. Yes, I did use the mirror on an image on my Picasa site and actually rotated the composite 90 degrees. I felt that while the image as shot was interesting, it was abstract enough to make it more abstract. That does create some interesting effects. I decided to experiment with the mirror on blurred images after reading an article about mirroring abstract macros. I think I like the effect - its not for every image but does work on some.

Took this with a slow shutter from a moving boat in the Louisiana marsh.

Thanks for looking.

And then it reminds me of those papers when we were children where we folded them in half and it was the same on both side.

It reminds me of a tail and so many things.

The abstract feel of it is wonderful.

I of course am a fan of Gordon and his movement :)
