I like the composition, that the child is brighter than the scene, and that you can see hints of adults walking in the background-- it reinforces the point that the child is in their own world. The blurred bird in flight in the foreground adds a feeling that you've captured a moment, rather than a static scene, which I think influences the meaning of the photograph in a good way. I'm not sure if you controlled this or not, but I think whether or not the child's eyes are visible has a large effect on the psychological space of this photograph, of whether it is about this child specifically or all children in general. The lighting, contrast, and exposure is perfect, and I think it was a good choice to make this black and white, in order to bring the focus more on the composition.
