Just trying to get some ideas on how to improve. Comments are always

welcome. Thanks, JP

Excellent focus and nice composition! The highlights in the face and the dark tones look just a little washed out, try adjusting levels and/or the ends of the curve a little. A tighter crop showing only the owl could also be interesting.

Justin,

Very nice capture! My only idea for possible improvement is to try a tighter crop. You have done a great job using shallow DOF to create a nice blurred background...but maybe there is so much background it competes with the owl for attention??? Your tech details said this was shot at ISO 800, but it is tack sharp and noise free so I am sure it would hold up well with a tighter crop. It is really a great image as is... but you asked for suggestions - Randy

Thanks Paul & Randy,

I posted another tighter cropped photo with the levels adjusted just moments ago. You are quite right in the competition with the background. As for the image quality, you have gotta love Canon L glass with the IS. I hated to spend the money but it is worth every penny. JP

Crop no crop? They are apples and oranges. The crop is my story and uncropped is his (i'll asssume he). For the title "young wet and tired" the uncropped says "it" better. It is a bigger world in the uncropped. The little owl looks more lost. Not so much lost in the cropped. I think there is potential Bud commercial somewhere in this.
