I've seen some moon shots here and thought I would share one of mine.

This was taken with my Camera lens not a telescope. 300mm f2.8LIS with

2xII and 1.4xII I used my 30D for this for the extra 1.6x as the

1dmkIII has only 1.3x advantage.

Thanks for the comments the autofocus works with the 1dmkIII and stacked converters but can be quite slow in lower light. There is plenty of contrast on the moon edges for a solid confirmation even on the 30D which I used here. It does depend on seeing conditions also as the moons detail does come and go with turbulances in the air.

Necip, this is fantastic! I was just reading your biography paragraph and am impressed with you collection of equipment. Tony Quinlan here on PN (who lives in Australia) has been inspiring me to explore astrophotography more. I have tried to achieve a comparable result to this image using my Canon 400 mm with the 2xII extender, but the lens is slow and the extender makes it much slower, and I have been unable to get this clarity and detail. I am impressed and encouraged. Cok guzel!

Thankyou Kurt I really appretiate your kind words I saw some great works by Howard Cox on this site and it certainly must be very satisfying achieving those photos. Unfourtunately I live in a light polluted city and really envy people who live in dark sites. Instead of just the world you have the universe to explore your shoots. I uploaded an M42 - core shot to show about the best I can get in a light polluted city. Cheers.

Jeff I would say you need a tripod, mirror lockup and release cable. Also wait for a good moon phase where there is enough shadows contrasting on the craters a full moon is really not as good Good luck.

This image blows me away! Excellent work, and that you did it with camera lenses is all the more impressive.
