David! Well done! I've not time to do a proper critique of it, so for now I'll just say great shot and return to it later.

We rarely see these flowers or any other from this vantage point and you have chosen an excellent subject for such a venture given the spurs on the back of the flower.

I like the very bright, but still detailed, exposure here. It really speaks to the intesity of the sunlight when you took this. The small OOF highlights on the stem are my favourite part.

The simple white stroke-border and drop-shadow work well here. Nice image.

First off, the texture is wonderful. I can almost "feel" the softness of the petals. The DOF was a nice choice, leaving some in crisp focus but putting other spots soft, almost like parts of the flower is flirting with us. The colors....well, purples and lavenders are a favorite of mine, and have been for many years. The placement of the flower in the frame: perfect.

Well done, David.

Elena - Thank you very much.

Ian - I'm glad you like this presentation. I love these little flowers, especially with their unexpected backward facing spurs, and I was trying to find a good way to show their delicacy and uniqueness... can't tell you how many shots I've done of these over time! I'm glad you like the highlights of the hairy stem... the temptation, of course, was to have them in crisp focus, too, but then the DoF wouldn't have been right for the rest. Thanks, too, for you comment about the framing. It just seems more finished to present a shot with a frame, and I try to do it as minimally as I can, so to hopefully augment and not detract. So, it's nice to know you like the framing on this one. Thanks for stopping by and for your positive comments.

Rachel - Thanks for stopping back and saying more. I'm glad the delicacy of the petals comes through for you. Flirting is a very interesting choice of words, and I think it fits especially well, given how it teases the viewer with interesting structure both front and back. It's probably too subtle, but I'd also hoped to emphasize that with the shadows of the stamens on the lower petal giving a hint of the front. Anyway, thanks very much for returning and for your strong affirmation.

The play of light and soft shadows, the petal forn and special color, is what have had my attention the first. than the placement on the frame and BG. all of it makes a nice and a bit different flower photo. a tiny bit cast of green in the center of the stem and on the L petal, are adding a color nuance. I like it that there is no real frame around , gives all the stage to the flower...;-))

Thanks for stopping by, Pnina. I'm especially glad you like how the flower is placed in the frame... I gave a lot of attention to that.
