Yes, the curve makes what would be a great picture without it even better. Very nice capture of the flat tones of the buildings. Beuatiful detail from the bottom to the horizon.

Beautiful tones from the sky and mountains to water, architecture, and figures. The curving pavement along the water makes my eyes sweep across the image. Nice composition.

Many great points about this photo:

- Nice, balanced contrast

- Great leading line in the edge of the water

- Beautiful reflection

- Very good detail in the stone buildings and in the misty mountains

- Nice placement of the people on a vertical third line

- Good choice on the (almost) black'n'white with the touch of coor left for a rustic feel

 

The only minor thing I might have changed is the amount of space above the buildings. They look a bit cramped by this composition, so a slightly looser crop on the top would give them some more breathing room.

 

As far as the space on top, I think it's all about having the same basic white space in the original and the reflection. I would have done it this way too.It's more about the reflections than the environment.

Love the texture in the buildings and the composition. Is this HDR?
