Alex: A sincere thank you for your well thought out critique. I cannot say that I agree with you 100% but putting the wagon behind the structure would have added another layer of depth, so you have a valid point. Thanks!

Hasan: I actually prefer my new version over this. It was meant to have a comic style, not a ha ha type, but more like Grim Fairy Tales. I've read Zesch, Wyeth, and now Lucky Luke and I think everyone is on the same page. The bird reminds me of walking in a field and having a surprised guest take flight as I approach. As for the sky, never considered that but I think it would be a really good idea to try. Thanks for your warm thoughts my friend!

Vittorio: Thanks for taking the time to visit!

Love it! This type of treatment of old structures and vehicles always appeals to me, and the foreground vegetation is particularly strong. My taste would be a bit darker or more saturated. Miriana on PN (and my camera club) does this genre very well.

This looks like a photo waiting for a song title! I love it! It would make such a great painting. Well done.

Thank you for sharing the original, comparing the two is helpful. Each piece of the puzzle made it better, well done. The wheelbarrow caps the piece.

I see the original version as so rich with Wyeth-like possibilities, so it's hard for me to consider your posted version without my own bias for simplicity kicking in. It's a wonderful, soulful, winsome shot with a great feeling behind it. Your posted version steps it up a notch in terms of dazzle and "eye-catchingness" for sure. It becomes a courser- and stronger-textured image, harder-edged. Given what you've done and the vision I've seen pursued in your work over the months, I think you've done an excellent job and given it the Tury edge. I am fine with the foreground and the way the building distortion works. I think all of that feels right and interesting as does the way you've handled color, giving it a bit more surrealism in the process. What doesn't work for me are the clouds and sky. That screams photoshop and software filter to me. I think if the clouds and sky were a bit more realistic looking (not quite so blurred and soft and hazy/airbrushed looking), the image as you've created it would work a lot better. As is, the minute I open it, my eyes gravitate toward the sky because it has such a different quality of manipulation than the rest of the image. For me, that starts moving the photo away from surreal and towards out-of-sync. So, there you have it.
