Solitude

laura2

Raised the ISO to give the old "grainy" effect. I was very sad that day and the day was very drab while I wandered the beach trying to get my thoughts together. I thought this was the perfect image to sum up how I felt.

It captures everything you said in your commentry, that lonely, down feeling, when even the weather seems to be sharing those feelings. I'm not sure about the dark corners. The perfectionist in me says they need to be burnt out in Photoshop, my first impression on seeing the shot says they add to the feeling of gloom from the weather. I think I'd stick with my first impressions. Good shot

There is nothing aestheticaly pleasing in this shot, but that just goes to strengthen the story. Out of your folder this is the one that attracted me most, maybe because I can relate to it, the thumbnail didn't show the figure on the "bench", but when I opened it up it seemed to make more sense: lone person on empty beach diminished by scale of sea, though "he?" seems to be looking sideways and I think that gives this shot a sense of optimism

I like the dark corners. The figure in the chair seems to be looking ahead and slightly up, in the direction of the area of sky that isn't so dark. It gives the impression of this sad and lonely person looking up at something brighter and better. A nice symbolization of hope perhaps.

I like it. Nice work Laura!
