tore 10 Posted May 15, 2008 Great looking girl and the sharpness and tonality is great. The backlight trough her hair is causing you problems in the left side of the picture, the hair looks cut in the middle. I try to shoot with a soft box to get a white background once and got the same type of problem. Some clone stamp in Photoshop maybe solve this problem. Best regards Tore Link to comment
olli.pekonen 0 Posted May 15, 2008 Hi there! This is an on location shot in Merihaka carpark bunker. The light behind is the end of a driveway tunnel. The reason I shoot there is that you can avoid some wind and all rain, and the holes in the concerte wall create all sorts of weird ambient light setups (though this was filled about 50% with a sobo flash). Go figure the catchlights in her eyes :-) The model is a very busy commercial model in Finland, and rightly so. I shoot a lot of newbies, and shooting with a pro pro is a bit odd as your success rate (of from mediocre to great photos) jumps from 10% to 90% (you the photographer is the one that screws up, not the model). Guest Guest Posted May 16, 2008 Was it cold? :)I've had one session with Paivi myself a few yers ago. She had this amazing routine for facial expressions. Everytime there was a flash, right after she closed her eyes for a long second and then they were and stayed open with a new facial expression till the next flash, like a machine gun, expression after another, endlessly. She seems to be ageing graciously. For me, she has been the most demanding model I've ever worked with, partly, like you say, because she is a real pro model and has worked in and out of Finland. She puts quite a lot of pressure on the photog, but also, you can use every minute of the session.I like steep contrast B&W and this falls into that category. There is a lot of detail here. White is white, black is black so it's also dramatic. Very good, very good indeed. Link to comment
jkilgo 0 Posted May 18, 2008 Beautiful B&W portrait...the eyes really make this image stand out. Great tones and textures and nice natural feel to the lighting. Excellent pose and expression. Nicely done. Link to comment
