I don't think the blurring adds anything here. The guy is playing a musical instrument, not racing a car or running or something that movement would add something to. I'd rather see him in focus. But that's just me.

I have seen many photographs of musicians in jazz clubs that used the blur effect better. Those generally blur just those parts of the player that moved, often most of the player. Those give the feeling of motion in the music without it looking artificial.

I do not feel that the motion streaks add to a jazz environment = which pardon me is dark dim lit smokey. With the motion blur you have way too much light and worse yet bright lines that go past the player to some point outside the picture. Jazz music if it had a shape would not be a straight line.

I must agree with ellery - jazz it`s not linear - so your lines shouldn`t be linear, that bothers me.

And, the musician seems to go backward instead of ahead - nice try, but doesn`t work for me.

I like the movement lines, and while I agree that they don't feel jazzy (more like speed lines) I like the way it makes me feel that he's flowing into the audience. The only thing that does bother me is that there are some lines across him, they are a bit distracting on such an isolated image.

This flash effect is nice, but the artist's expression is too passive for the movement of the scene. Despite that i think it's still a nice photo.
