neciphoto 0 Posted May 8, 2008 This is a profile shot of a small butterflies head. It's total length is about 1 1/2 inches don't know the species but a very common one. I used a total of 76mm extender a 2x converter and my 50mm f1.8 lens. I used my Canon 430EX flash. I had previously made a white paper diffuser oragami type hood that difuses and channels the light to the lens front. Sheet of Paper background. Camera set to manual F13 shutter at 1/400sec and flash set to H-sync. Was taken handheld and it was alive. I particularly liked this shot as it shows the eye in detail and its slimy tounge with the tentacles nearer the end for capturing the pollen. There seems like a couple of pollen grains on its eye. This shot is only slightly cropped on the left and right edges. thanks for any crit. and comments. Link to comment
