Tell me what you think of this. I wanted a simple shot, few elements,

with the soft green background while still maintaining enough detail

in the shell. I think I hit it pretty well.

Hi Stephanie. The composition of this shot seems elegant to me. I like the muted greens in the background, which is nicely out of focus and complements, rather than competes with, the subject. Beautifully done!

Hi Stephanie,

I like the minimalistic approach you took with this one. The soft light is complementing the subject and your choice of location for the snail breaks with the "rules" and adds interest to the image. There's only one little thing. The grass blade peeking out in the lower centre is very distracting in particular because of its lighter color with respect of the rest and it's leaning towards the oposite direction of the rest.

The kind of things you see when you get the pics back :-) ;-)

Great image.... I agree with the comment about the grass blade... just a little gardening would have taken care of that and can still be done if you're into photoshop.... if you do that, I'd also sharpen the section of the large blade just to the left and above the smaller one... I think the out of focus blade would enhance the whole if it were shop. Very nice composition and image.

Nice composition. The blurred grasses gives a nice green background. I also agree about the odd grass going the other way - you could have done a little 'gardening' as suggested. The snail could be in a little more focus - but that may be the scan. I personally would also have preffered a slightlt tighter crop but this does emphasize the small size of the snail.

Okay, I must admit I like this. The single red spear of grass bisecting the frame with the incongruous snail shell up on the neighboring blade makes a great counterpoint. The picture is a "Simple Composition" but interesting never the less.
