ericc22 0 Posted August 27, 2002 Greetings, Please let me know what you think about this. I am particularly interested in thoughts on the composition and how it might be improved, assuming there is any potential to this scene. All other comments are of course welcome. FYI, the slide was scanned on an inexpensive flatbed scanner. The leaves in the center of the slide are quite sharp. Thanks! Eric Link to comment
ericc22 0 Posted August 27, 2002 I have attached an alternate cropping of the picture above. I am curious for your view of which photo you prefer. I want to show the balance, shape, and texture in what most people see as an ordinary forest scene. Which picture does that more effectively, if either? Thanks! Link to comment
ericc22 0 Posted August 29, 2002 Your point about a stronger point of interest is an interesting one, and one that I struggled with. I was trying to make the 2 leaves with the water drops the point of interest with the flowers framing them. I do struggle with this one though. Thanks for the honest feedback Bart. Very helpful. Any other suggestions for improvement are most welcome. Sorry I can't do anything about the sharpness for now. Still trying to figure out what to do about a scanner! Eric Link to comment
hayward 0 Posted August 31, 2002 Most scanners these days come with an image editor. The image editing program usually has something called "unsharp mask," which can really help your scans. Here is your image with "unsharp mask" applied in Photoshop Elements, which runs about $99. Link to comment
rsminton 0 Posted September 6, 2002 Sharpening helped quite a bit. It brought out the dew on the leaves, which I find to be the most interesting element of this shot. Otherwise, I'm not drawn in. In my opinion, a shot like this needs vivid color, which this doesn't have. Link to comment
brad 0 Posted September 12, 2002 Have to agree about the point of interest. Maybe a closer vantage point might help? Link to comment
