A Tray

I'd love to know if you think this is much too 'contrasty' or

whatever. Negative comments/critiques welcomed as always!

I think the contrast is fine. It works well with the image. The stray cup at the rear is a distraction. The two main cups seem to lack sharpness.

To me, the third cup makes the photo. (I'd even bring it out slightly more). I think, because it's a little unexpected, it takes an already nice still life to a more personal and unique level. The lighting is quite nice. Where it does bother me a little is in the transitions from shadow to light on the cups. You get that weird distinction between color and light that's a little strange. I like the focus the way it is. You've brought out the texture of the tray and the softness of the round cups. Nothing wrong with that, to me, a nice choice. I also like the way the light catches the very front of the tray, in a band of light. Very nice. I also see three vertical lines in the back to the right of center. Not sure what those are, but you might not be seeing them yourself on your monitor. Again, though, the third cup is like a whisper or an echo and I think it's a keeper.
