laurent-paul 1 Posted April 25, 2008 sacrality, mystery, power, knowledge, grace, devotion from the people around ... "Kdesha" is very similar "Kdosha", always have been, but we just forgot, I guess. Link to comment
laurent-paul 1 Posted April 25, 2008 And just a question : why was Jeremiah so affraid of Asherah ? Wasn't it because She was the one with the real power and real knowledge ? Have all a very nice week end. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 25, 2008 Interesting answer, but I do know that Jeremiah was not afraid of Ashera. What I know about Ashera is that she belongs to the mythology of the Middle East, the goddess and "mother" Of the people of Cna'an, She was the Goddess of the sea,and ports of the ME, as well as the fertility and motherhood .There are many stories and assumptions about her, but Jeremiah that was a prophet in the time of the first temple was the one that cleared the temple from the idol Ashera. It is very brief explanation Laurent ,(but hard in English) You are right about the sourses of the words " kdesha/kdosha", it comes from the fact that she was as well the goddess of fertility/motherhood and therefor bonds between men and women...( genders/sexs). This is really going very far back, Laurent roughly 600-700 BC... As I said, it was an interesting answer about similaritis..... Link to comment
juan-de-santa-anna 0 Posted April 25, 2008 Wow...This image is actually one of three in a series...the couple getting married in the park goes well with this as well...I am confused...did you make this image? or did shoot window at an ad?...I apologize for my ignorance...Juan Link to comment
juan-de-santa-anna 0 Posted April 25, 2008 OK...I own that when Gordon said "this pair of"...that being Latino...well er... you know what I mean.... Pnina...I am not sure what you mean about the "two" sides...perhaps you meant two of the many sides...of Spain/many countries... When I was a young man (a long time ago) growing up in two countries... drooling over beautiful woman as these guys are...I was also being brought up being beat by Catholic nuns in Sunday school...(I guess I was a little rambucious even then)...I remember somewhere in the Bible it says to procreate...? Is this an image of good Catholic boys? jeez kidding... Yes... the "religious" folks often miss the importance of the spiritual aspects of this world around us...Good coffee is often more a spiritual experience than many a sermon... I like what your are saying with these two images...The name of the cafe is kinda of spiritual for me too...;>) The image of Guadalupe is definitely blurry...I thought it was intentional...in more ways than one it is appropriatly blurry.... I guess all my blather... (it's what your art always does to me)is about, what I am trying to say is... As usual your creations/images always create way more than only "two" possibilities...of thought...and I enjoy reading what you instill in people's minds...juan Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted April 26, 2008 Appreciation of Beauty in mundane and sublime, is a matter of taste and education,Pnina. Two interesting images that provoke different interpretations. I feel, it all depends on one's attitude. Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa found the Supreme Mother in all ladies. But ordinary mortals will fail to see the oneness. What is sublime to one, may be profane to another. After all,man has created Goddess in the image of woman, they have seen, from time immemorial. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 26, 2008 Thanks for expressing your point of view. It was a print inside a kind of restaurant seen through a glass wall, the writing was outside and I joined both of them by the camera, So Lex it reminded me the 60's as well but it was connected in my head to the "holy Vierge of Guadalupe".... Juan, first you are right about the definition of "two sides of Spain". there are many more and I corrected it!Thanks for that. It was unconscious to put the 2 photos after the wedding in the garden( "four photographers"), but it has a connection....;-)) I'm glad you see the blurred madonna as intentional , metaphorically yes, photographically was not my intention.... Thanks for youe extensive explanation of what you think, I appreciate it Juan! Amal, as usual you are right, and S.Ramakrishna, is the right way of a deity to relate to women in General, and to all people that were born human, with their strenght and weakness. Link to comment
adan1 0 Posted April 28, 2008 Pnina is right on. "Whore" is not the person, although one might argue that the way that she is so provocatively dressed might be an indication of it. It is the way that she is perceived. One does not approach the previous image of the Virgin the same way that one approaches this scene. In this case the woman is reduced to being an object that is used to satisfy a man's lustful appetite. Link to comment
