robert_faber 0 Posted December 23, 2000 Stephen...Nice work, but... Shots like this are an everyday thing. A shot of the rider flying around a burm with rooster tail in tow, or a shot of some close action between two or more riders would be more interesting. I live 15 miles from where the US Gran Prix was held a few years ago, and shot about 20 rolls of film. The best ones were of the action as I've described. They show action, speed, competition, and drama. Try it next time your at the races. Link to comment
michaelb 0 Posted December 23, 2000 This is a great shot- i don't like it but it is a wonderful effort- i do not think that it is symbolic of mans yearning for freedom nor do i think it is even artistic but i do feel very proud of a person who accomplishes anything-it doesn't matter if we like it or not- cory m. borisko Link to comment
gabrielle 0 Posted December 24, 2000 I love it. Think lights on right, especially that seeming to come from front tyre, make it even more startlingly effective. Congratulations. Link to comment
holli_jackson 0 Posted January 2, 2001 I think the merits of picture are not related to information about it being shot in the midwest. As far as the viewer is concerned, it may have been shot in Italy. If the picture were to represent yearning for freedom, then the rider would be looking and straining upward, not obviously planning his descent (or landing). This picture is more of an abstract to me. The colors unify the rider and the machine; yet they are isolated from all else(except the lights of course). What does this mean? I will wonder for a while. . . If this picture was an action shot, with rooster tail, etc. I would not be interested. All in all, very nice work. Thank You Link to comment
mike_cohen2 0 Posted January 22, 2001 Heres the thing....Action photography is in a world of its own. Anyone who shoots these kinds of athletes on a regular basis knows how rare sharp, well exposed, action photos are. Even though this image may not be the most exciting image on the planet, the photographers talents show by just capturing one split second. Link to comment
timothy_breihan1 0 Posted February 21, 2001 For one thing, this is a hard shot to get. For another, it is even harder to get it composed like this. This is a great composition, especially for the viewfinder. There are no rules when it comes to composition, and being a designer, I think that I have as much right to say this anyone and more right to say it than some. Finally, it represents the photographer's interests and is clearly an example of a fun shot to take. Its a dirt bike, so what? Not my forté, but my preference may not be yours. So what? Great shot, BTW, if I didn't already say so. Link to comment
curt_miller1 0 Posted March 19, 2001 it was a little over exposed but other than that its a good picture Link to comment
