fred_j._lord 0 Posted August 27, 2002 Jon: This looks like it might have some of the smoke from our fires in it. Is this a recent shot? The fires have provided lovely evening skies while sadly destroying our forests. This is a lovely image with a wonderfully unusual pattern in the clouds. The silhouetted trees are a quite nice counterpoint as well. Beautiful work! Link to comment
yo 0 Posted August 27, 2002 At first glance I think, "wow! super colours and cloud patterns!". Then I get a strange feeling that not all is right. Did you use a graduated filter (or some electronic equivalent) for the blue at the top of the photo, or is it natural light?. Nice shot either way. Link to comment
jon_brooks 0 Posted August 27, 2002 Fred, yes... the smoke did have an effect on this shot. I live in Denver and we've been plagued with wildfires this summer... however, they do have a very serene and rather scary effect on our sunsets! Thanks for the comment! Yo Stoll - The colors in this shot are all natural. The only enhancements this one went through was a noise reduction filter. However, what you've said has been echoed quite a bit - "man, that doesn't look real!" - to be totally honest, that's the same reaction I had when I stepped outside and saw this! Thanks again for the comments, guys! Link to comment
nomade 1 Posted August 28, 2002 Simple, strange and beautiful. Maybe a some cropping on the top would do it good. Link to comment
will_wilson 0 Posted September 1, 2002 Excellent shot. Exposure and composition look great. I think I would clone out that small black line in the lower right part of the clouds. Link to comment
