Cathryn Calderon performs with Axis Mundi, in the San Francisco-Santa Cruz area
Obviously, this is photoshopped, so the art was all in the masking of the various elements in the composition. She was sitting on black cloth on the floor of a borrowed professional studio, with better equipment than I will be able to afford. I even had to move her leg somewhat, to make it look more like she was climbing out of water, and you can imagine all of the problems the diaphanous cloth added, because I wanted to be able to reproduce it at 14" by 14" without any evidence of the rubber stamp tool. She's too big for the bath, and this image had to be art for art's sake because there was no way for me to locate the photographer of the original bath, but whatever: she's beautiful and it was a joy just as an homage to all those 19th Century odalisques I'm embarassed to admire as much as I do.
