jcpopper 0 Posted April 9, 2008 The Lower Fox Creek School in the Flint Hills of Kansas was built of native stone in 1884. It was used as a one-room school until it was closed in 1930. It has been partially restored. (View larger to see without the compression artifacts!) Link to comment

elportebonheur 0 Posted April 9, 2008 Yes, Joseph, this a very nice B/W composition - which I like! Becomes even more interesting and understandable because of your attached describtion. Compliments, El. Link to comment
s_williams 0 Posted April 9, 2008 Joseph, This is a stunning image...very respectful and true to the vernacular! And the solitary figure is so effective in communicating the message. Impressive. Stephen Link to comment
skyjammer 0 Posted April 10, 2008 Excellent elevated view landscape. I like how the sparse cloud cover could be mistook for little wisps of smoke from the chimmney. Given your nice little story about the building, you should probably have titled this image "School House Rock"! Excellent and dynamic tonal range as is usual with your B&W images. raybrizzi 0 Posted April 10, 2008 El Porte-Bonheur and I seem to be drawn to the same photos many times. :) It's a very powerful shot. I'm not sure if the woman(?) standing there adds to the image or not. Link to comment
chens 0 Posted April 10, 2008 very beautiful. the clouds are fantastic, full of imagination. regards. Link to comment
katzpjs 50 Posted April 10, 2008 The image appears to have been taken on a bright and sunny day, but the overall scene is quite dark. I would like this better with a bit more lightness throughout the image. Link to comment
ifotoman 0 Posted April 10, 2008 Great atmosphere Flint! Please visit and rate/comment at liesure. Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted April 10, 2008 You are quite right. And that's because I posted the wrong version. The correct one is now in place. It may still be too dark for your taste, but at least it's the one I intended. Thanks for drawing my attention to the error. Warm regards... Link to comment

halina_lewandowski 0 Posted April 10, 2008 Unique place and a good composition. To me, the person standing there makes the shot. B&W is the perfect choice. Congrats. Link to comment
j_m_lee_photography 0 Posted April 10, 2008 I get so wrapped up with the composition here. The sky got enough space for the dancing cloud and the road leading to the person makes me want to know the mystery behind that horizon. The house allow my eye to hold still in abeyance for a while. I just love it, Shalom my friend :0) Link to comment

pnital 36 Posted April 10, 2008 Joe, I like it as is, a bit dark, as it enhances the form of the building . I like the road and the human figure which are leading the viewer to the house, the floating clouds are adding to the special mood, as well as your written addition, very well done. Link to comment
