james_wilderhancock 0 Posted August 28, 2002 i love these trees. and even more after i decided to go underneath one for a different perspective. the combo of the fall color and twisting trunks/branches fascinates me. my hope is that the viewer is as interested as i was at the time of photography. so, does it work? j._scott_schrader 0 Posted August 28, 2002 Beautiful composition, contrast and design. The focus just seems soft throughout the entire photograph. I hope it is the scan that is soft and not the original shot. Very intriguing. Link to comment
syd 0 Posted August 28, 2002 Great shot James, your a tree man after my own heart, keep it up! Link to comment
daniel_rice 0 Posted August 28, 2002 The trees look like a couple of contortionists. Very cool! Link to comment
dean_trakilovic 0 Posted August 28, 2002 I had to look twice at this one...at first glance it looked like a highly modified photo...Great shot...well done! Link to comment
andrew coulthard 0 Posted August 28, 2002 Me too, I was fooled by this one...great effect and wonderful technique. Link to comment
christian deichert 1 Posted August 28, 2002 Almost doesn't look real. I wouldn't mind seeing a little more texture of the bark, but changing the exposure thus would likely blow out the highlights in the leaves, so I think you made the right call. Great shot. Link to comment
michelle_cox 0 Posted August 29, 2002 Looks like one of those paintings of Hell... Wow... I don't normally like to comment just to say I like it, but I don't see anything I would change. Wonderful just as it is. Link to comment
jennings 0 Posted August 29, 2002 Very Very nice. Maybe a reflector aimed at the bark could have brought out a little more detail, but I don't know what the conditions were. Link to comment
james_wilderhancock 0 Posted August 29, 2002 flatbed scans are never good in my experience, but at least SOME detail came through. also, i forgot to USM my last batch of uploads, which includes this one. if i can figure it out i will post the sharpened version. thanks for the comments so far. tom_mcelvogue 0 Posted August 29, 2002 Interesting twists and turns on the tree trunks. I think you really brought these trees to life with this composition. For me, the over-saturated leaf colouring takes too much of my attention. The detail on the tree trunk surface is not very appealing to me but the curves and lines of the tree trunk are great. I think there is a great depth in the image. Link to comment
mg 0 Posted August 29, 2002 Glad to see the USM version. Even more details would be better still, but it's already better than it was. Well, to me, a good composition, nice colors, and a great subject. That's all it takes sometimes to achieve a good image. I like it. I'd like it even more with all the details on the slide, and maybe with nicer lighting, but it's a good shot. Nothing to add. Regards. Link to comment
derek_d1 0 Posted September 3, 2002 Great shot. I love the colors of the leaves. It feels just a bit cut off at the bottom to me. Might like it better if you could have fit in a bit of the ground in from of the trunk. Great shot as it is though. Link to comment
tcalbaz 0 Posted September 13, 2002 Wildly elegant! Love the twist and turns. TRES KEWL! Link to comment
kristin_morales 0 Posted November 23, 2003 I had to look a couple of times to understand exactly what I was looking at. I have never experienced a tree or photo in such a way before..great job! Link to comment
