joie_puckett 0 Posted August 23, 2002 wow. this photo now feels like it came from a professional studio compared to the original. amazing what cropping and tinting can do for one's career... ;) Link to comment
cakeller98 0 Posted August 23, 2002 Does this work better than the original? and can you see anything that could be better? I speak no more, so that you all may speak. Thanks for your time ;) Original Image Link to comment
gerard 0 Posted August 23, 2002 I like you cropping a lot. I think this image acquires a new dimension in monochrome. Specially the light on her hair adds a lot to the mood of the image. It could have more detail, but can me my screen, though. Nice work!! Kids can be a hard subject to capture right. Kind of wildlife and action photography together ;-) ;-) -regards, Link to comment
tom_permutt 0 Posted August 23, 2002 You and I seem to be working a theme here, Christopher: adorable child with big white spot. I think what Scott said about mine applies here, too: to the extent that it's controllable, less big white would be better. I like the tone and the cropping (but why the haircut on the left?) If you can do this kind of thing on cue, you can be rich. Or if you watch for it and get it when it comes, you can have a lot of fun--provided you enjoy the watching. Link to comment
jeff greene 0 Posted August 24, 2002 THis shot has alot of energy. Its a wonderful expression and moment you have captured here. Yes the backlighting is blown out and that does detract, but otherwise its very strong. Any parent would be happy with this. Link to comment
scott bulger 0 Posted August 24, 2002 This is better than the original in my opinion. But because of the angle of her head, I might leave just a tiny bit more room top and left so she doesn't look like she is cramped in the box. These very tight crops work best when the subject is vertical. Still, very high scores. great, great capture. Link to comment
jennifer_ridgeway 0 Posted August 25, 2002 Wonderful, happy expression. I like the lighting (white spot), but would I would like it much better if it did not consume so much of the photograph (for example, just lighting the hair). I did like one thing about the original better, the cropping. I think it worked better with the original cropping (though I love tight crops). Very Nice work. Link to comment
mark newcombe www.mcnphoto 0 Posted August 28, 2002 WOW what a great shot what parent wouldn't love this. I didn't see the original and the link says its been removed so I'll just go with this one and say well done. The totally blown out hair at the top drives my eye straight down to those eyes with great catchlights. Cheers Mark Link to comment
randy_keller2 0 Posted August 30, 2002 EXCELLENT...Brilliant to strip color and extra material away to allow the viewer intimacy with soul not the photo. All distracting elements are removed and I like the sandwich of face between the the two peices of medium tone background plane. In the Original, the darker mouth was visually centered and almost distracting within the composition. Not so now... The subtleties of composition are very apparent with this close up, face to face look and mono chromatic approach. Link to comment
josepmiro 0 Posted September 17, 2002 Nice photo but I find the source of light too strong Link to comment
