I don't think this image is pornographic. I really think the figure of the body provides a nice contrast to the bars of the "cage." However, I do understand what others might say about the power dynamic between a (male) viewer and a female subject in a caged situation. However, because the photographer is a female (N.B. The photographer is rarely separated from her/his image, especially in a self portrait) that has framed herself, she inevitably controls the interpretation of the image. The image is more about aesthetics than gender dynamics. However, without a commentary from the photographer, it remains up to the viewer to interpret the photograph. Personally, I interpreted this image in terms of form rather than politics.

It does surpise me that anyone could describe this image as pornographic. There is no genitals, no breast, and a mere outline of the gluteal cheek. I have seen Renissance paintings that were more explicit.

I can see that it might be offensive but only you make assumptions about what I am trying to say...

that IS woman in cage ! I feel a lot, thanks to the line of the body, the weight of the head left in front of the body, the non-pornographic expression of what I see as a strong emotion.

Oh dear, what alot of debate about pornography. Why bother. It is clear that defining art as pornography is a subjective act, and an arbitrary one at that. Lets face it some people find pictures of shoes arousing, and good luck to them. As for this image - I personally don't like it, and I certainly don't think it atall challanging, but again this is an entirly subjective opinion, and clearly others find it aesthetic. Well done for stretching the small minds of the dreary conformists.

Though your IR landscapes are generally your best work, this nude is probably the best of everything in your portfolio here. Color a good choice for this one, though B/W is usually my preference.

This image's strength is in the way it confronts the viewer with a confrontation--the caged figure blasted by light: wonderful! My test of an image is whether, and how deeply, I engage with it emotionally, and this image engages me far more than any other in your nudes folder, and more than any of the others I saw in various other folders of yours I looked at. The rest of the nudes are far colder, and feel like etudes. This feels like a complete expression.

Though I can certainly understand your desire for some privacy, your insistent anonymity works against the nudes as a group. When your(?) face does show, it is so flatly expressionless that it almost loses its faceness, becomes a blank spot in the image, less informative and engaging than the rest of the figure. Maybe a bit of the confrontational mood that powers this image might intensify your other nudes.

I was flipping through Nerve Mag's "The New Nude" a couple of days ago, and this image would comfortably fit there. It certainly represents a statement worth revealing to a wider audience. Whether you want to present it as a self-portrait is another matter.

I look forward to studying your photographs more carefully. You are clearly interested in images similar to those that interest me.

Your work is sexy, provocative & fascinating. I agree with some of the comments that hiding the face may detract from some photos. Have you seen the Tori Amos CD cover I refer to? "Little Earthquakes" is the CD title. She's shown crouching in a wooden box, not nude; I believe the imagery runs through the cd notes. Just wondered if it was any kind of influence.

This image is extremely dull in subject and execution... just because Tori Anus did it doesn't make it right ;) The photo should concentrate on provoking some kind of response, whether through skillful photography, lighting, composition or a new twist on an old idea... Amy Powers usually does wonderful work in this respect... Better luck next time, perhaps with an image that challenges...

The photo is definitely original, but as I see it on my computer screen is way too overexposed. i realize this is probably the intent, but somehow it isn't working. the angle bothers me, as the model is cut off, and the lighting on the exterior of the cage is not intense enough, giving a dull, lifeless effect to the metal. that's a lot of commas to say that something is missing.

This whole folder is very original. The composition of all photos is just incredible. It's hard for many of us to achieve that while we behind camera, you managed to do that while being in front! If you could share your technic of self portraite with us-that would be great! Of course, very few of us would look as stunning in front of camera as you.

In case you don't know her work - I'd HIGHLY recommend you look at FRANCESCA WOODMAN'S work. Just google the name. There are a few monographs on her work available - this reminds me a bit of her... thanks!
