Would you leave the background out of focus or would you focus

everything? I think that leaving it out of focus gives it kind of a

romantic look, but I would like to hear opinions and critiques.

I would keep the background out of focus for the reasons you state. I just made and posted a photo of flowers with a similar effect. With so many elements, the eye needs to attached to something.
