This is another shot of artists on the street (not street artists,

that's another subject). It is part of a long series of shots with

this flutist as a subject during an afternoon concert, and the only

one where she's not actually playing.

I was certain that this is studio shot... I guess the background had me fooled a bit , but also the excelence with wich this portrait was made. I like the position of the flute very much, and the expression is great also. Cheers!

Really nice. I had it for a studio portrait as well until I read your description, and didn't understand why it was under "Street". It's pretty evenly lit - did you use a reflector?

The background is the back of some stands of a crafts fair that was beside the stage. It was lucky that no one was walking by when the girl rested. There was a junction between two boards right at the top of her head, which is what I retouched as shown above. No reflector, just a nice overcast sky.

I also would have assumed that this is a studio shot. I don't know much at all about lighting, but it looks great here. Good candid portrait, I just wish we could see the rest of the hand holding the flute, maybe also her right arm.

Thanks for posting the original. Amazing, how a small modification can improve an image so vastly (I think I'll be testing some uniform backgrounds in the near future).

Hello.

Bravo on this wonderful shot. After much study I can find nothing to improve. Nothing to change..nothing to critique.so I will just congratulate you on the shot.

I think this is great. When I look at it I think "what is she thinking about?" which bringes the (assumed) answer that she is preparing for a performance. All I would change is maybe rotate the flute a bit cause at the moment the hole is a bit off centre and draws my attention too much

Nicely done. It's amazing what can be done with careful selection of location and the available light there. The retouching to remove the pole really makes a difference.

Please show us some more of these.

Good work here - if i have to find something to critique would be her missing hand, but I`m getting picky here :-)

I had also a cheat feeling, when u showed the original one - i`m not into that but nice shot indeed.

I love this shot. Part of the reason is probably because I myself am a flutist, but it is still very well composed & a lucky candid at that. Good thinking with the background also, I would have done the same if something such as the seperation between the boards was present also.

If only I were better at self-portraits, I'd take a few of myself with my own instrument.

Very lovely & well done photograph!

Saludos Eva.
