The intrinsic appeal is the contrast between the smooth tonality of the leaves and the crisp water drops.

But it is also well composed, the big leaf in the middle right echoes in the leaf in the top left and the other 2 leaves almost seem to fit like jigsaw puzzle pieces. The water drops are placed in front of the only real black area which makes them stand out and makes the eye go back and forth between the main leaf and the drops, unable to decide what's more worthy of attention (which can be bad, but is good in this pic).

I like the range of tones in this photo from the true black spot 3/4 of the down from the top to the white highlights refelcted in the drops. The overlay of similar patterns in the leaf makes reference to the structure of the spider's web which gives the water droplets such interesting shapes. To me, a photograph is all about the interplay of elements, harmony, balance, and conflicts.

this is by far my favorite of your garden pics. i think you have a sense of design in b&w that gets lost when you use color.

Scott I've taken a look at your work and am impressed with the high degree of professionalism. You have a good eye for natures beauty. I just simply love the colors that your capture. I wish that I was 10% as creative.
