doug_gentry 0 Posted April 8, 2008 Sarah, Welcome to PN! I'm a fan of windows and Urban decay. I must say you captured this beautifully. The textures, the contrast of the door with with the brick. It's a delight! I can feel the paint peeling off the door! And that brings me to my point about photography and your question about what makes a good photo! I read the responses in the forum and they were through. I'll add one nugget. Emotion. I feel the most powerful photos stir some emotion in the viewer. That's the magic. When you shoot, ask yourself, what feeling are your trying to convey. What story are you trying to tell! What emotion are you trying to reach the viewer with. I see the image above and I see old, aged and worn. Somewhat sad and yet the strength and lasting power of the door even as the layers of its life are being pulled away is a wonderful and strong image. You've got a great eye! Keep shooting and find the emotion! Kind Regards, Doug. Link to comment
