mandymojica 0 Posted March 18, 2008 I welcome critiques and comments. I was sort of going for a gap type image. This aspireing model was a little difficult to shoot as he is actually 6'7 tall. It was done in natural lighting at the florida hospital in orlando. As I don't have a studio I find opps where ever I can and the lighting was great. Anyway I hope you can give me some pointers. Thank you. Link to comment
keithostertag 0 Posted March 18, 2008 You did very well indeed! The model's pose is natural and the movement adds some dynamic. The architectural line in the background works. If it were an actual advertising shot the jacket would have had to be better prepped, and I am not sure looking straight into the crease of his lapel is acceptable for advertising but someone else will know. Also, on my monitor the focus looks soft, as if maybe you focused a little too far into the scene- his hair near his ear looks sharp but not his eyes. You might consider cropping it slightly down from the top. These are just ideas to consider, meant to be helpful. Regards, Keith Link to comment
mandymojica 0 Posted March 18, 2008 This is just what I need to here. I had major challenges working with this model and I have a tendancy to focus on faces and loose the details that in end result make the image professional. I did have problems with focusing it becomes very hard to control with the little nikon coolpix s51 I use there is very little control verses the professional cameras. I will be getting a nikon D100 at the end of this month! again thank you sooo much! for your critique.:) Link to comment
jimmoi_85 0 Posted March 19, 2008 Mandy do you use reflectors? In my opinion this image would benefit greatly from having some light reflected into his face. Pose and composition are fine. I promise you that once you start shooting with a D100 your photos will progress in leaps and bounds. Keep at it. J Link to comment
mandymojica 0 Posted March 19, 2008 No I did not use reflectors but I will be investing in some very soon. I just started shooting again after years of not picking up a camera. I'm kicking myself in my head for getting rid of all of my old equipment. I've got the bug again and this time I'm never putting down my camera again. I will shoot with an oatmeal box and a pin hole if I have to. So far I've been shooting with a little nikon coolpix a little amature point and shoot with little control but as you said I'll get better with better equipment. It's just expensive and takes time. Anyway thanks again hun. Mandy Link to comment
tomadakis 0 Posted March 21, 2008 I would look into the Pentax k20d also. You will get a lot more for you $$$. Considering your camera this is excellent work! Link to comment
