rachelfoster 0 Posted March 20, 2008 I love the composition but would like to see what higher contrast does to it. It's hard to do snow well, but this is very nice. Link to comment
dseltzer 0 Posted March 23, 2008 Higher contrast would be interesting, and I think the original actually has that. In processing this, I was moved by the softness of the shapes (and I always think of snow as soft) and I wanted to try and make a nice, well focused, but in a way, soft image, and that's why I applied a bit of sepia toning. So, what you've suggested tells me I at least partly achieved what I was trying to do here. Thanks! Link to comment
shots worth sharing 1 Posted March 30, 2008 This is really interesting David--I like it. I think I agree about more contrast (or brightness or both) but I appreciate your wanting to get off the beaten path. Link to comment
dseltzer 0 Posted March 30, 2008 OK, so since both you and Rachel suggested it, I adjusted the levels to make it brighter and punchier... and... OK, OK, I like it better ;-p Thanks for stopping by and leaving a thoughtful comment. Link to comment
shots worth sharing 1 Posted March 31, 2008 I'm glad you approve. I do understand your concern about "hardening" it but I think the new treatment avoids that. Link to comment
rachelfoster 0 Posted March 31, 2008 Good gravy, David....you know better than to listen to me! I like it a lot. Link to comment
dseltzer 0 Posted April 1, 2008 Thanks Dave and Rachel. Thanks for the advice and feedback on the revision. And Rachel, what I know better than is I know better than *not* to listen to you, Dave and all my PN friends! Link to comment
tanyatruong 0 Posted April 8, 2008 photo whether they are Snow Cones or Snow Mushrooms :o). Out of the vast emptiness of Snow, there seems so much liveliness in this are of Snow Cones. I like this photo very much, David. Link to comment
dseltzer 0 Posted April 9, 2008 After reading your comment I had to find out who wrote such nice words about my picture. So, now I have seen you and spent just a brief time being amazed and delighted by one great photo after another in your gallery! I am very flattered that you have taken the time to look and comment on my picture, and it means a lot that one with your eye likes what she sees here. Thank you very much. What a nice surprise to meet you! Link to comment
