g3 0 Posted March 20, 2008 This is really an old one. Tyrells have vanished from F1 a long time ago. Nicely done. Link to comment
sambal 0 Posted April 1, 2008 No, I don't remember this one ;-) Racy shot though. Cheers, Sam. Link to comment
seismiccwave 0 Posted April 1, 2008 Yes I remember this very well. 1976 Tyrrell introduced the 6 wheeler. However I am not sure this photograph is the genuine Tyrrell 6 wheeler. It may be a scale downed version. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 1, 2008 Yeah, Tyrrel P34. The designer was Derek Gardner. He together with Mauro Forghieri (Ferrari) and Gordon Coppuck (McLaren) of Ferrari inspired me to become an aeronautical engineer. The six wheeler won the Swedish GP in 1976. This is an interestin concept since you can actually get a softer single wheel suspension this way with comparable stiffness gradients of that of a four wheeler. I still salute Gardner for having true courage in design. Link to comment
