Thanks for your generous input. I just flew back to a very wintery Quebec from a small warm country and this is where I captured this heron. I took a few of the bird on a late afternoon. I very slowly moved closer and closer - taking an image each time until it got nervous and flew away.

Thanks for your generous input. It is a time like this when you need a bird blind to be able to capture all the parts but I did not have that. I did not even have my tripod put the Nikon VR, manual focus and a relatively high shutter speed allowed me to capture the details.

Good composition, I like the way the heron has turned to look back in to the image. He really jumps out against that great background. Well done Tony!

Good to see you posting again. Great use of the golden reflection off the water surface. I like the fact that you maintained enough detail in the water so that one can tell that it's water, and not just lens bokeh.

Glad i am back and thanks for the comments. I needed a winter break from the record breaking snow fall and this one was taken in Cuba. I have created a CUBa folder and I am starting to load it up if you have time to take a peak. I will get around to looking at your images also.

The background colour is fantastic, your picture makes me positive on theory of 2 and 1/8 colours rule
