matman1975 0 Posted March 11, 2008 Hello Tony. The golden color of the water in contrast with the Heron makes a beautiful image!Brilliant shot, you took advantage of the early morning (or late evening light)in the most appropriate way! Greetings from Greece Link to comment
terrygilroy 0 Posted March 11, 2008 Amazing shot, great detail and colours, pity the feet are hidden but that's a minor point, lovely photo, regards Link to comment

thadley 15 Posted March 11, 2008 Thanks for your generous input. I just flew back to a very wintery Quebec from a small warm country and this is where I captured this heron. I took a few of the bird on a late afternoon. I very slowly moved closer and closer - taking an image each time until it got nervous and flew away. Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted March 11, 2008 Thanks for your generous input. It is a time like this when you need a bird blind to be able to capture all the parts but I did not have that. I did not even have my tripod put the Nikon VR, manual focus and a relatively high shutter speed allowed me to capture the details. Link to comment
jim craig 0 Posted March 11, 2008 Good composition, I like the way the heron has turned to look back in to the image. He really jumps out against that great background. Well done Tony! Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted March 11, 2008 Thanks for your generous input - even though I took a few of this bird, this was the only one where it turned it's head in this direction. Link to comment

skyjammer 0 Posted March 11, 2008 Good to see you posting again. Great use of the golden reflection off the water surface. I like the fact that you maintained enough detail in the water so that one can tell that it's water, and not just lens bokeh. Great shot. Regards, -Ade Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted March 11, 2008 Glad i am back and thanks for the comments. I needed a winter break from the record breaking snow fall and this one was taken in Cuba. I have created a CUBa folder and I am starting to load it up if you have time to take a peak. I will get around to looking at your images also. Link to comment
Funtak 0 Posted March 11, 2008 The background colour is fantastic, your picture makes me positive on theory of 2 and 1/8 colours rule Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted March 12, 2008 Thanks for the positive endorsement - I am still learning and I would appreciate an education in the rule you mentioned or you can point me in the right direction. Kind regards. Link to comment

cherlyn 1 Posted March 12, 2008 The glowing orange bg of water really enhances the beauty of this image + good clarity & DOF. Very poetic oriental feel. Link to comment
