artfx 0 Posted March 3, 2008 This is a geat idea for a shot but there are a couple of things that could have been improved upon. The top and right beams do nothing for the picture. The subjects left elbow (or right elbow looking at the shot) is hidden behind the right beam. This is a no no for portraiture. Their is a shadow behind the subjects head probably from the onboard flash. The space behind the subject is almost black. Back lighting and extra attention to lighting or additonal lighting would have helped. The dress looks overexposed, you have to meter for the dress in this shot. The idea is a great one, and had the subject been up a couple of stairs to the left, it would have helped. Link to comment
b_man 0 Posted March 9, 2008 The picture shows beautiful framing and the top and right beams lead the viewer into the scene - Sometimes you need to break the rules and yes it would have been better to have the elbow in - but it doesn't detract. I see enough detail in the dress and the dark background sets off and frames the bride. Great work Simon Link to comment
