Beautiful colours and a great exposure, but I would have liked to have seen the end of the pier.

Isabella, nice colours, but I agree about seeing more of the pier. I was also down there today (I only live 5 minutes away) a bit earlier (about 4.30 or so) and the number of birds (starlings I think) flying around was incredible. They used to stay away frrom the Palace (Brighon) Pier when the West Pier still had some of the old buildings on it, but now those have gone they seem to be flocking to this pier despite the presence of people and lights. Today it looked like a huge swarm of bees around the pier!

Thanks for your critiques. This was the first of many shots taken and to my dismay the only one depicting the lovely colours of the sunset before a large bank of clouds covered up the setting sun and took all the colours along with it. I do agree with you both that this photo would have been much improved had I included more of the Pier in the frame - definately something for me to consider next time I'm down there taking some snaps!

 

Pete, I was hoping that the impressive flocks of birds were going to make an appearance for me last night but unfortunately they too seemed to dissapear with the sun. It does make for an awesome sight - I'm quite jealous you have this only 5 minutes from your doorstep!
