Alberto: Glad you like this one. I need to see what you're up to....

Ruud: Howdy. I believe I took a bunch of pictures of bicycles on this outing and thought of your work. Unfortunately, none are worth posting. Thanks.

Jeff, you are right.Everything in Nature aspires for Light, except few who like to grope in the darkness. When a photographer is enlightened like you, being a connoisseur of Art and Literature, we are also enlightened. Comparison to macular degeneration is rather interesting.

This image and the one before seem linked to me. Again the colours are fantastic, I love the sky. Again this speaks to me of a dichotomy of man and nature. I can read many sub-plots into the light being off ( outshone ) and the sky being lit. The actual lighting on the post appears to be coming from neither behind the post nor from the lamp, which makes me uneasy. Again you have evoked a strong and diverse response from the audience with this one. I wish my insomnia had the same creative effect as your sleep deprivation :)

New meanings and ways of showing the ordinary matters... When viewing this only as electric wires and a pole and a lamp, this might be mentioned as a dull photo. But when viewed with the knowledge of seeing past the ordinary meanings and moving into the area of abstractions and mind connections, this rises to another level. You really emphasize the vignetting and the lamp/light and to me it works well. I cannot find exact words as why I find this to be so interesting and likeable image as I feel it is. :-) To cut the sentence: I like it a lot! :-)

P.S.

Thanks for the comments and ratings!

Congratulations! It's difficult to take out a pictures non-descriptive but creative from a common object. Very good work. Glauco

Jeff, your latest works are very deep, coming from a well far beyond the visual world. i think works like this are best felt rather than explained, although i have enjoyed the lively discussions you are inspiring.

Hi Jeff,

This is a very powerful image, as so many others have so eloquently stated. Nice concept and presentation. Congrats! Katherine

A.K.: Thanks for your thoughts. Indeed, life is a search for light. I liked the macular degeneration idea, too.

Gordon: These last two pics are linked, having been taken within five minutes of each other. The original shot had rather flat backlighting--a big yawn. Anyhow, thanks. Didn't mean to weird you out.

Alpo: I always liked the haloed effect of lampposts at night (although this wasn't a night shot). Thanks a bunch.

Glauco: As the saying goes, I'm making a silk purse out of a sow's ear on this one. Thanks.

Linda: Agreed. Enough said. (Other than thanks perpetually).

Katherine: Thanks. Thanks. Thanks.

I'm not going to write much (except sorry that I'm late as usual). The better the image, the less there is to say. Nothing need be said about this wonderful photograph. Warm regards, Joe

I like this Jeff. It reminds me of a Triffid! I like the way it is a light that isn't on but is backlit by the moon. I like the detail in the wood and the cable, and the wire strain relievers, and the fact the cable clips can be seen. I can't really add any more as it's all be said. Definitely a well thought through photograph with good post processing.

I'm constantly fascinated by your "dark" and poignant sense of humor -- "more please". This is a Wired Magazine Cover shot. Kudos!!!

PS Love the iris!

Alina: Thanks. The cable was my favorite part, too.

Cherlyn: Hi. I wish I was able to travel like you do. I'm stuck here taking pictures of streetlights. Thanks for stopping by on your travels.

Joseph P: Thanks immensely.

Photo F: Appreciated!!

Pete: Hey, I like that. I had to look up Triffid, which sounded familiar. And they were. Buried in the dark recesses of Saturday night movies. Thanks!

John: You're a funny guy. I'm glad you like my visual jokes.

Mehmet: Thanks always.

Janusz: I'm glad you liked this creation. A digitized moon--my first!

Tero: Jeff vs. Darkness. I wonder who will win? Thanks for a delicious thought.

Laurent: I don't know if you remember Rocky and Bullwinkle (i.e. Moose and Squirrel), but Bullwinkle has a line that says, "Watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat." He proceeds to reach into a magician's top hat, where he pulls out a lion or bear or some other growling creature. He then says, "No doubt about it. I've got to get a new hat." Well, that's my photographic philosophy. I reach into my hat and never know what will come out. Looking at your portfolio, I think you have a similar experience.

David: Thanks for your comment. I'm ready for more "Pigeon Chronicles."

Great visual impact for this experiment/concept of let's see what it turns out ... ;-)

Circular polariser?

Best regards

Sorin: I always use a polarizer outside, and I think it worked to eliminate reflections and darken the lamp, but it didn't do anything to the sky. That's a digital creation. Thanks.

Kelvin: !!!!!! and I mean it. Thanks.
