meli d 0 Posted March 10, 2008 Those comments mean so much to me coming from an artist such as yourself! Truly, I am glad you like it and help me put into words what I appreciate, too! : ) xo Link to comment
je ne regrette rien 67 Posted March 28, 2008 the blurred crowns of trees and their various green tones, the greyish tree trunks. And the the people, the back of the man in black shirt and the glance of the one in striped shirt.. And then there are "several shoes" displayed: in the background and a couple of shoes in the foreground, giving the photo, how shall I say, "a sense of flowing" towards the viewer. I only have the feeling that the frame is tilted to the right. If I manage to describe this flowin a more appropriate way, I will. Link to comment
meli d 0 Posted March 31, 2008 I am glad you like it, and appreciate your telling me in detail, because it is not such a 'wonderful' shot, but more a character piece! It was taken on January 1st!, my first roll of the new year 2008, and as it is on New Year's Day, there was a unique energy in the day, the people (the other shots in the folder from the same first roll) ~ Like Marco said, it does not appear like a Southern Californa area, and I really like this particular area, (why I stopped by on New Year's Day!) ~ I am glad i got this person's glance to camera, and as I was squatting to get the height of the shot, i am glad too that that worked to show off the trees and the bricks in their splendor. There is a tilt to the right ... hmm... maybe you are right and it does flow to the viewer; i could play with it and tilt it, but it might sacrifice even the slightest detail like the shoes, so we may just have to look at it a little tilty! : ) Thanks again, and for seeing the ones of me that Marco has taken, too. Cheers. Link to comment
je ne regrette rien 67 Posted April 4, 2008 It is so plain, so telling, so real that it could be exhibited in large. It's funny, but the paintings of Norman Rockwell are called to my mind.. Link to comment
meli d 0 Posted April 4, 2008 Thanks again, Luca ~ I'm glad you like it; i'll be sure to make a big print of it! and include it in my exhibit ! : ) (I guess we can make something even of the No Smoking sign, too ~ maybe a sign of the times!) - - Cheers and thanks. Link to comment
