Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted March 5, 2008 The eyes are truly the window to the soul, as they say. There's a gentleness to his expression that really cannot be put into words, but must be simply appreciated. I did partake in this rather interesting conversation on one of Jeff's pictures about photography, whether one is an artist when he is simply presenting the performance of another artist. At those times, I think the photographer is not an "artist", but merely a conduit, channeling the great performance of another. There is no shame in that, of course, for photography has its own intrinsic essence, which is instantly recognizable in the twinkle of a child's eye, in the energy of a wave, the power of the conviction of the political advocate. These times, the camera merely projects, in a way that is not possible with any other medium, that brief nanosecond of time which defines an afternoon of activity, an hour of a performance, that one second described by countless practitioners of this not-too-ancient craft, as "the decisive moment".
