Okay, I'm very inexperienced when it comes to working in a studio,

and Natalie is totally inexperienced when it comes to being in front

of the lens. However, I had an opportunity to do some shooting in a

studio owned by a bud and Natalie agreed to help us out. Be kind,

but be honest in your C&C. I'm hungry to learn. Thanks!

I would have never guessed that either of you were inexperienced based on the quality of this capture. My only suggestions for post processing would be to clone out some of the dark lines near her armpit and maybe brighten the hilites in her eyes. Overall I think it's really really good and I will be extremely interested to see some of your work once you are at the point where you call yourself 'experienced' ( ! )

Well if Natalie is inexperienced, then she missed her calling. The only place where the exposure is too blown out is in her nose. It is distracting and needs to be softened a bit. The rest is not objectionable in any way. You could experiment with balancing the light better, but this image is still a fine one as is. Natalie ought to get to work, she could support herself handily by modeling.

Ok let me be honest. ;-) I don't see much wrong with the image. Natalie is fine and you did fine. Exposure is good. Lighting is pleasant. Focus is really good. The eyes are a little dark for a portrait. You want to show them off a little more. You may want to experiment with different lighting position to express your feelings. The lights are pretty high in this image so you get some shadows under her chin and nose. You may or may not intend them to be there. Her upper chest is a little hot. A lower light will help even out the tone.

Very nice. I do believe that more light on her face would make the photo better, after all, unless the focus is on her blouse, the model should get more attention from the lighting. She is very attractive, even in the shadows. Also, if possible the photo would benefit from her being farther away from the background, or give an extra light on the background, take it from someone that is still making "misteaks"!! IF you can, keep working with her and ask her for her opinion, too!
