Korean War Memorial (Best seen Large)

vincetylor

An eerie memorial to photograph late at night. Which is the only time you can hope to catch no people around. Used a tripod and cable release for this exposure of a few seconds. Converted to B&W with help from Jay Patel. Opinions are always welcomed. Thanks. www.hawaiianphotos.net

Best seen in the Large view. Would like opinions between this B&W version, verses the Sepia

version attached below. Thanks!

IMHO both of them are splendid photos, but i like the sepia toned best. It transmitts a very special mood and there is a fantastic light in this.

Very beautiful indeed. Thanx for sharing it with us. Regards LKV.

Thanks for your comments. Just be sure you compare the large version B&W to the Sepia version, which is posted large. Otherwise, the large sepia version looks better than the small B&W for sure. I was leaning more in favor of the B&W. But not quite certain...

Vincent, I would lean towards the sepia tones image. Seems a little more dramatic with some color in it. Nice images for sure. - Sean

An excellent photo technically and artistically flawless. I prefer the sepia version because I think that is more dramatic. Congrats !

Hi Vince! Good to see some more DC stuff from you! :-) I, too, prefer the sepia. It's an interesting perspective on this subject. I like the significant contrasts!

I liked both versions. Sepia has more light and shades in it. But BW is also as effective and moody. Did you use an ultra wide angle lens? The distant memorial seems a bit barrel distorted. anyways. good and quite a different image.

I usually use Provia 100 RDPIII for everything because of its very fine grain. Velvia 50 RVP isn't to bad either. Have ya tried the Velvia 100F yet? Hey let's see the color version!

Hmmm...I like both versions for different reasons. The b&w is crisp and clean...beautiful, and yes, the larger version is better. This will look stunning printed large and framed. As for the sepia, I like it as well, but the bit of color softens it, in my opinion. This b&w version is better as a fine art style print. Now, if you want a touristy type postcard, go with the sepia...it's what people expect from an "old" war image. Does that make sense?

Actually I'm a nothing because I never paid them any thing but your right I've been a p.neter for 6 years now and you for 7. July 24th I will be a 7 year member. It doesn't seem like that long ago that I first looked at yours and Vincent's pictures. Hey what happened to my POW trophy?

So if I pay them now I would have a 1 next to my name?

Still wondering if this was taken on B&W or Velvia 50 then turned into a B&W. Either way I like the shot.
