floyder 0 Posted August 10, 2002 Sorry for such a stupid question, but... It is just plain extraordinary. So I thought I'd ask about the setting. Thanks. Link to comment
tony_cooper 0 Posted August 11, 2002 There are many instances where you see an image that is too good to be real... or, rather, original. The precision involved in taking such an image is more than simple circumstance. Wildlife photographers wait months and burn through rolls and rolls of film before they capture images that speak volumes. This image does speak volumes... but I wonder how it speaks so well surrounded by so much curiosity over its origin. Link to comment
MichaelChang 12 Posted August 12, 2002 Ben does state in his biography that "his hobby and passion is creating experimental/surealistic photomontages, by combining airbrush illustrations and photos.", so one might assume this image follows a similar lineage. On a casual glance, It does come deceptively close to being real, though. Link to comment
dennis jones 0 Posted August 13, 2002 Really like the effect. Good darkroom techniques. Link to comment
tom_schonhoff 0 Posted August 13, 2002 Something about the exposure and the color of the sky suggest a full daylight photo taken with drastic underexposure. The absence of "sun gems" in the image may belie this, but can the photographer speak on the subject? It would be nice to know more. Link to comment
ben.goossens 0 Posted August 13, 2002 This is a nightphoto, toked in the south of France (Ardeche). The moon, and the mountain has been retouched by PS. Levels and curves are changed. Those corrections made this image better, I beleave. Now, the question is: has it less value because there was PS involved? Link to comment
ohiokathy 0 Posted August 14, 2002 Photoshop or no Photoshop - I really love this shot. It is very artistic. Link to comment
chris_runquist 0 Posted August 14, 2002 How did you get a night shot like this, with a long lens, without any blurred motion from the howling wolf? What was the focal length, shutter speed, etc..? PS or not it's a wonderful shot. I ask these questions out of curiousity, not cynicism. This is excellant work. Link to comment
chetnik 0 Posted August 30, 2002 He didn't. He drew it in PhotoShop. Nice wallpaper, though. Goes nicely with the Windows "Desert" color scheme. Link to comment
lobelink 0 Posted September 3, 2002 It's like saying that Bethoven wouldn't have used a Hammond Organ if it had been around ... of coarse he would have..If he had an open experimental mind. And I assume he did. Any form that speaks is the answer. There are only a small amount of people that even know what Photoshop is...a smaller amount that even care. A critic should be concerned with quality and emotion not mechanics. Anything that gets you there....right? This piece is well thought and performed. I applaude the photographers question behind the piece. That's worth a 10. thanks for it. Link to comment
j_rg_gr_ndler 0 Posted September 5, 2002 This is my favourite of your folder! I know some of your artworks from the Hasselblad Super Circuit in Austria and I`ll hope we`ll meet in November in Linz at the Gala Of Photographic Art (I think you`ll be there too, cause you`re one of the Main Award Winner!) jean_paul_chevalier 0 Posted February 11, 2003 I think so few people have the imagination to work with an image after they take it. Sometimes you are at the right place in the bad momento. What you can do with the picture so that it takes shape and tells what you were thinking is originality, and this photo my friend, have lot of work in it. Link to comment
goodeguy 0 Posted February 18, 2003 Does this belong in your portfolio. Just kidding nice job. Link to comment
