This attractive photo defines the less attractive verb "gawk". What's got his attention? Simply the delicate yellow flowers? An insect or bird? (Or, with you there, perhaps a hound?) Or is this an existential yawp! at the infinite mystery of life? Oh, now I've gone too far: it's simply a delightful little portrait. I like the softness of it all.

In fact, yes. Young Henry, here, was watching his family's noble bird dog bound through the cover, scenting jack rabbits and ringnecks along the edge of a farm field. He was definitely stopping to take in the action, and listen to his father call out, handling the dog. Can you imagine what it's like to have every one of your synapses engaged in processing just one thing, even for a moment? Ah, youth, when you don't even know that you don't know what you don't know, and no need to worry about it! This young lad was basking in that state of wonder. And no wonder.

I just came across this while browsing this morning. It's very nice! You captured a wonderful expression and the composition is beautiful.

This is a very lovely portrait of a little boy lost in innocence (the halo of light around his blonde tresses, the soft yellow of the flowers, the soft light) seemingly at peace until you look closer at the expression on the boy's face...he seems a little frightened or uncomfortable with what he is seeing. This photo brings out in me a feeling of wanting to protect him...very emotional image for me. Very well captured and seen. Thank you for sharing. :)

This is a wonderful photograph. The colors in this field of flowers- pastel yellow and greens give it a lightness and sunshine which renders the tone of this image.

The posture of this little lad is precious. Standing, transfixed with the awe only these children have. But only still for a moment until he begins to run again.

So in this brief, shining moment every thing is still--captured.

And then life goes on...
