A Problem of Balance and Poise

Really rather lovely, Dan, with the cat's head softly illuminated by the diffused light from the window. Excellent compositional balance and a classic use of tone (chiaroscuro) to reveal the subject. This is a picture I appreciate the more I look at it. See, I can be serious, too.

I have not doubted your capacity for seriousness, Jack; I merely thought it took a back seat to your curiosity and imagination. At the risk of seeming immodest, this photo has sort of grown on me, too, although I am inclined to burn down the chair seat in the lower left corner a tad more. It was shot with a curious substance called film. In spite of my arsenal of digital cameras, I still like the stuff and the look of it. It can be considerably more laborious than digital photography, and it requires the nearly extinct quality of patience, but I think it may be worth the effort. I am currently looking for a funky old film camera that I can carry everywhere, so perhaps I will have more to offer in the future. Dan
